Jury convicts Bullhead City man in shooting death

KINGMAN, AZ (AP) -

A jury has convicted a Bullhead City man in the 2010 shooting death of another man.

Arthur Andrew Leyba was found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, misconduct with a weapon and first-degree burglary Thursday in Mohave County Superior Court.

The Mohave Valley Daily News reports that the 35-year-old faces life in prison. A sentencing date hasn't been set.

The prosecutor had said that Leyba made an example of 32-year-old Ronnie Wayne Trainer by shooting him in the face because he couldn't pay a drug debt.

Trainer's sister, Liza Jacques, says her brother did not deserve to die and that family members are pleased with the verdict.

Leyba's attorney had argued that his client didn't kill Trainer. He says witness statements were inconsistent and contrary to the facts.
