TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Family and friends of Isabel Celis are actively working to bring her home, nearly eight months after her parents say she disappeared from her bedroom. On Sunday, Dec. 9, they organized a car wash in midtown Tucson.

"It's very frustrating to not know more," said Sergio Celis, Isabel's father.

All Celis wants to know is where his daughter, Isabel, is. The 7-year-old disappeared from the family's East Tucson home on April 21.  Fewer leads are coming in, but the search efforts are still going strong.

"My wife, myself, our sons, and all of our family are very determined she's coming home," Celis said.

On Sunday, volunteers organized a car wash near Oracle and Prince, raising money to keep ads on bus stops and billboards.

"It's very expensive. Our funds are running low and we need to do something to get it back up," said organizer, Valerie Ballesteros.

"How horrifying for that family to still not have that girl back. So, I still want to do all I can to help out," said Shannon Patterson, who got her car washed.

The efforts to find little Isa have even gone national. Recently, Sergio and his wife, Becky were featured on Katie Couric's new talk show. Sergio says every bit of publicity helps.

"My wife and I were very excited to be there and put her face nationally again."

Eight months after she vanished, a $65,500 reward is being offered and a community touched by the family's tragedy is doing all it can to help bring her home.

"The one thing we've heard from other reporters is that it takes that much longer when they are alive and are out there," Celis said.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
