ETX Food Bank receives $3,300 donation

The East Texas Food Bank received a $3,300 donation from the Tyler Altra Federal Credit Union on Wednesday.

The Altra Federal Credit Union took part in the national Drive Away Hunger campaign, in which they donate ten dollars for every car, truck and motorcycle loan they give. Nationally, the company raised over $16,000 for local charities and food banks.

The Tyler Altra Federal Credit Union raised $3,300 for the East Texas Food Bank's Back Pack program. The money raised will provide more than 20 Tyler Independent School District students with food for the weekend for a whole year.

Food bank executive director, Dennis Cullinane said this donation will greatly help TISD students.

"It's really important, not only that it will feed 20 children for a year, but it also sets the tone on social responsibilities for companies giving back to their community. They are an awesome group and should really be commended for taking this step," Cullinane said.

Remi was brought into the shelter as a stray about three weeks ago. "He gets along with the other dogs. He still in his puppy stage so he still has a lot of time to go around play with everyone," said Torion Johnson, animal control officer.  Remi is a heeler-spani...
