Freedom Fighters: Whit Whittington

The China-Burma-India Campaign of World War Two has often been called "the Forgotten War" because so little has been written about it.

Whit Whittington of Mineola knows firsthand about that piece of history because he was there. Whittington was stationed in Assam, India, at the foot of the Himalayas.

His job was keeping supply planes in the air carrying supplies over the Himalayas from India to China.  Pilots who flew those dangerous routes called it "flying the hump".

Tune into channel 7, Friday at 10: p.m. for Whittington's story on Freedom Fighters.
