SHEPHERD, TX (KTRE) -
Traffic
has been cleared on U.S. Highway 59 north of Shepherd in the wake of an
accident with an overturned 18-wheeler as of about noon. Before then traffic
had been limited to just one lane in either direction as a Haz-mat crew worked
to remove chemicals from the truck.
According
to Trooper David Hendry, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety,
no injuries were reported in the accident. The driver of the truck was Steven
Lachowsky of Conway, Ark.
The Haz-mat
crew was brought into remove the chemicals before the truck was turned upright,
so it could be hauled away from the accident scene. Crews from the Texas
Department of Transportation diverted traffic around the wreck by switch one
lane of the north bound traffic to the southbound side.
The
accident occurred early Friday north of Shepherd at Loop 494. After leaving the
road, the 18-wheeler overturned.
