LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Two men are behind bars after fleeing from the scene of a major motor vehicle crash Saturday night.

According to Lufkin Police, officers were called out to an accident on Timberland Dr. around 10 PM Saturday night between a tractor-trailer and pick up truck. When officers arrived, the driver and two other occupants of the green pick up truck ran from police.

Officers say 34-year-old Gilberto Castro charged the officer trying to arrest him and resisted arrest for some time before he was taken into custody.

42-year-old Ariel Castro was arrested about 5 minutes later in a heavily wooded area near Winston Park after a woman called police to report a man in her yard.

Officers were not able to find the third suspect. It is unclear why the three men fled from the scene. Police could not comment on whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved. The police report also states there is a language barrier.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Fernando Reyna-Nunez of Brownsville, was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.
