DANBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A gun and knife show scheduled to take place in Danbury in January has been canceled, according to Mayor Mark Boughton's Twitter account.

Big Al's Gun and Premier Knife Show was expected to take place at the Crowne Plaza on Jan. 5. The show was expected to feature guns, gun-related items, ammo, tactical clothing and gear, premium knives as well as "other hard-to-find items."

It is unclear why the show was canceled.

Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed his mother as she slept in her bed and then went to the school Friday morning where he proceeded to shoot and kill 20 children, between the ages of 6 and 7, and six adults before shooting himself in the head.
