WILLIAMS, AZ (CBS5) -

An Arizona Department of Public Safety officer directing traffic was injured Wednesday in accident involving a semitrailer.

DPS said Officer Greg King was directing traffic when the semi lost control on the roads and hit King's car, pushing the car at him.

King was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center with severe internal injuries. DPS said Thursday that he is making great progress and is able to move both arms.

The DPS Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating the collision that happened about 1 p.m. on Interstate 40, west of Williams.

King is a reserve officer who recently retired from DPS. He has been with the agency since 1985.
