LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
Workforce Solutions of Deep
East Texas and the Texas Veterans Commission teamed up to bring basic
necessities like toothpaste and socks to homeless individuals at Godtel
Ministries for Christmas.
This is the third year the two
organizations have brought gifts to the shelter and Teresa Maryska, a veterans
employment representative, said she can't wait to see the residents' faces when
they open up their gifts.
"We try to take care of not
only the veterans but all the residents to give them a little something to tell
them that we're blessed, and we'd like to bless you," Maryska said.
Maryka said a group of helpers
put together the gifts the week before Christmas. All of the items are brand
new and are purchased at Big Lots.
