Lady Rams top Valdosta St. 60-50

Posted: Updated:

Sophomore April Thomas had 18 points and Kourtney Alexander added 13 as the Albany State Lady Rams beat Valdosta State 60-50.

It was a great win for the Rams in just their 2nd victory of the season. VSU came into the game riding a 3 game win streak and was 7-2 on the year.

Albany State head coach Robert Skinner had hoped the Christmas break would give his players a chance to refocus and recharge their batteries to start the new year off with a bang, and the Lady Rams did just that.

"Better than what we were performing before the break. That definitely a fact. We've done well. We've started to execute a little bit better and I thought we played very good defense so I was really pleased with them. Valdosta State is a really good team. They beat us the first time down there by 10 points so we kind of flipped the script and we were able to come out with a ten point victory tonight."

VSU will host Alabama-Huntsville on Thursday, ASU opens conference play on Thursday at Kentucky State.
