PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -
Yavapai County work crews have cleared debris and deemed Senator Highway once again safe for travel.
A county news release said the highway in northern Arizona was open to traffic in both directions Thursday morning after it was closed by a rockslide on a narrow portion of the road about three miles south of where the asphalt turns to dirt.
A Yavapai County spokesman said that hazardous icy conditions remain on Senator Highway, and motorists should be cautious and alert for roadway obstacles.
Although much of the slide had been cleared by New Year's Eve, public works officials were concerned about a section of the rock face that appeared to be separating from the hillside.
Senator Highway runs south from Prescott through the community of Groom Creek to Crown King.
