SURPRISE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 20-year-old woman escaped serious injury after the car she was driving ended up in a dry West Valley canal Thursday night.

The woman was westbound on U.S. 60 near Cotton Lane in Surprise when she lost control and went into the canal about 7:30 p.m., according to an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman.

The woman was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital with minor injuries.

No other information was immediately available.
