NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Last night, the Jacks found redemption, easily beating the Cardinals of Lamar University.
"Beating Lamar the way we did was a good boost for us, no matter what happened last year," said coach Danny Kasper.
"Unfortunately, we beat them in the regular season and they beat us in the tournament. You'd like to reverse that but that's not the way it fail, I think there was a little motivation there but I think there more worried about winning the conference crown this year," said Kasper.
It was not only a redemptive moment, but also got coach Kasper one win from career victory number 450.
The only team standing in their way, the Cowboys of Mcneese State.
"I worry more about career losses then I do career victories, but really Mcneese is a really dangerous team. All five players score in double figures, they're a very strong team offensivley, they're very athletic," said Kasper.
After playing 12 games, Kasper has also learned some things about this team.
"There hard workers and they like each other and you add it all up and it has made for a good year," said Kasper.
The 11 and 1 start is the best start the team has had since making it to the tournament in the 2008-2009 season.
Does this team of Jacks match up with that one?
That's a question Kasper's not sure has a answer yet.
"Unfortunantley, you have 18 more games left, so you really got to answer that at the end of the year," said Kasper.
By March that question will have an answer.
