Tyler foods plant to re-open Tuesday after weekend fire

Posted: Updated:
SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A representative of John Soules Foods confirms the Tyler plant will re-open Tuesday after a weekend fire.

The fire broke out Sunday night on FM 14, north of Tyler.

Crews from Red Springs, Chapel Hill, and Winona fire departments were all called to contain the fire.

An Oncor power crew cut power to nearby buildings because of the flames.

The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office says the fire was started when a transformer blew out, igniting bales of cardboard stored beneath the transformer, meant for recycling.

No one was injured in the fire.

The company estimates the fire caused between $2,000-$3,000 in damage.
