LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
Some Lufkin students are
heading to the state archery tournament.
Six student's from St. Cyprian's
school have qualified through their physical education program to compete in
the archery competition.
The students, ranging in
grades 2nd through 5th, participated in a qualifying tournament at the school
over the Christmas Break.
Earlier this week the
results were released which were a relief to both the coach and students.
"I was sitting on
eggshells until I found out and I was excited that six of my students were able
to go," said Coach Amanda Gentry.
"I was really
excited. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it," said 3rd
grader Lauren Gentry.
The state tournament is February
15th in Belton.
If the students do well
enough they will qualify for the national competition in Kentucky later this
year.
