BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) -

The Bridgeport Police Department seized a Bushmaster .223 assault rifle, which is a similar weapon to the one used in the Newtown school shooting.

Officers executed a warrant at 285 Birmingham St. on Thursday after police heard several shots fired in the area on Tuesday.

Investigators seized a Bushmaster .223 assault rifle as well as a large quantity of cocaine.

Police arrested Johnathan "Coco" Colon, 25, who was found in a second-floor bedroom. He was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of an assault weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

On Dec. 14, Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed his mother while she slept at her home before he went to Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed 20 children and six adults. He killed himself as police made their way into the building.

State police said Lanza mainly used the Bushmaster AR-15 assault-type weapon in the school.
