NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -
A ‘Lighten Up Expo' will be held tomorrow afternoon
at the Nacogdoches Recreation Center.
Numerous organizations will promote healthy weight
loss through strategies like gym exercise, yoga, endurance, and diet. Door
prizes will include free gym memberships, exercise class passes, and cookbooks.
Lighten Up is a regional weight loss campaign.
"We even have some local restaurants that are going
to provide some healthy, little taste testing options that you could choose
from and use," Kinney Douglas, a spokesman for the Healthy Nacogdoches
Coalition, said. "And health clubs, local businesses, and farmers market;
anybody that can help out in some way in making a healthy choice."
The first 100 attendees will receive a Lighten Up T-shirt.
It's not too late to sign up and join the 600 Nacogdoches County residents
committed to losing weight. The family-friendly event is from 4 to 7 p.m. at
the Nacogdoches Rec Center. The winner of the regional weight loss campaign
