GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A Glendale police officer has been demoted and suspended after a DUI arrest in September, according to Glendale police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden on Wednesday.

Rachael Bousman, 39, was demoted from lieutenant to officer and suspended without pay for 80 days after an internal investigation into her arrest by Phoenix police Sept. 14. Bousman was given a routine blood-alcohol content test. The results of the test indicated her BAC was .19.

There was a mitigating circumstance of the alcohol interacting in a strange way with prescribed Ambien that she was taking, according to police.

Bousman's car was found stuck on a parking block near Seventh Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Phoenix, according to Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department.

Bousman is a 14-year veteran of Glendale police. Over the course of her career, her record had been spotless up to this point.

She was on administrative leave while the department conducted the internal investigation, said Sgt. Brent Coombs of the Glendale Police Department.

Bousman has already served her 80-hour unpaid suspension, according to police.

No other information was immediately available.
