LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A new administrator for the Buckner Children and Family Services in Lufkin has been named.
Marisa Phillips will be taking over the operations of the program from Judy Morgan, who is not the Regional Director for East Texas. Phillips will be in charge of directing families on how to be self-sufficient while also offering services like foster care and adoption.
Phillips says she hopes she can live up to the expectations of her peers.
"I think just to live up to the kinds of service that we provided to this point to continue to provide excellent service to our residents and to look to ways to expand and develop those to meet the needs to more people in our community," Phillips said.
Buckner is partnered with Angelina College and the Women's Shelter of East Texas. The program allows students with families to live at its duplexes if they are 18 years old, and have a 2.0 minimum GPA. They also have to make a specific income.
