Minister honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Sandy Hook victims

NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -

A minister is telling the Newtown community that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's words "are needed more than ever before."

On Sunday night, Rev. James Forbes Jr. spoke at the Newtown Congregational Church in a service honoring King and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims.

Forbes was the first black minister to lead New York's historic Riverside Church.

He said the saddest face he ever saw on King was at the funeral of the four girls slain in Birmingham, AL.

He said he asks now as King did then, "Lord, what can come out of this that will honor those lost in the tragedy?"
