Sandy Hook students should not have to make up days

Posted: Updated:
NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Parents and students of Sandy Hook Elementary School should not have to worry about staying in class for 180 days this year.

Six school days were missed after the shooting before moving to the Chalk Hill School in Monroe.

Newtown Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson requested a waiver from the Connecticut Department of Education.

The department still has to vote on the measure, but it's expected to be approved.
