NC WEATHER: Warmer Monday, cold front early Tuesday

Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. - After a cooler Sunday, temperatures will warm up for Monday and Tuesday; before a cold front brings in a nice spell of dry pleasantly cool weather for the rest of the week.

A cold front has settled across the South Carolina and the surface flow will continue light out of the northeast through early Monday morning.  Skies will remain mostly cloudy but any precipitation will be hard to come by.  Overnight, with the clouds, lows will stay in the lower 60s.

On Monday, some morning clouds will give way to some sun mixing in during the afternoon.  It will be warmer, as the flow over central North Carolina will switch around from the south.  Highs on Monday will approach 80.  Our normal high this time of year is 83.

By Monday night a cold front will start to approach North Carolina, so a couple showers will be possible Monday night.  The cold front will come through on Tuesday morning so a couple showers will also be possible, mainly in the morning.  The high on Tuesday will be 82.

High pressure will build in on Tuesday night, so Wednesday will be partly sunny with highs in the middle 70s.  Partly sunny skies are expected on Thursday with a high once again in the middle 70s.  Friday will be mostly to partly sunny with a high of 73.  Overnight lows will drop into the 50s.

Next weekend is looking pleasant with mostly sunny skies on Saturday with a high of 75.  Next Sunday should be partly sunny and a little warmer with highs back up to near 80.

Hurricane Edouard continues to churn out in the open Atlantic.  Even though Edouard has become a hurricane, it poses no threat to any land.
