Tyler Co. authorities investigate hip replacement joints found in burn pile

TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Authorities with the Tyler County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers do not believe foul play is suspected after finding hip replacement parts in a burn pile in the Chester area.

Chief Deputy Phil Ryan said deputies were called to the scene near US 287 on Sunday. Ryan said they got an explanation that "checks out" but is being confirmed through checks of various databases.

"We're running the serial numbers and nothing is coming back as missing," Ryan said. "They told us it was just a matter of surplus parts."

Ryan said Texas Rangers investigated the scene on Monday.
