ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Diboll prison guard is on the other side of the bars now after being caught trying to smuggle five ounces of tobacco to an inmate for $300, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Joshua Landon Rhodes, 31, of Lufkin, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility and second-degree bribery.
According to the affidavit, Rhodes, a correctional officer with two years of tenure, was caught with three baggies of tobacco at the Diboll prison unit on Jan. 17. Two of them were inside of his shoes and one inside his pants near his crotch area.
According to the affidavit, Rhodes admitted to The Office of Inspector General Investigators that he provided the tobacco to an inmate at the cost of $300.
