Van Zandt Co. sexual assault suspect arrested

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department arrested a suspect wanted for aggravated sexual assault, early Wednesday morning.

Tuesday, authorities with the Sheriff's Department responded to an aggravated sexual assault of an adult female near the community of Myrtle Springs.

The victim provided a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle, but after a concerted effort by law enforcement officers they were still unable to locate the vehicle.

Through investigative efforts, deputies were able to identify a suspect and a search warrant was issued for a residence in rural Hunt County.

Shortly after midnight, Van Zandt County deputies located Christopher Lee Pruitt, 20, in the 2000 block of Payne Street in rural Hunt County and he was taken into custody without incident. Pruitt is a registered sex offender.
