PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Arizona Diamondback Justin Upton is headed to Atlanta to join his brother B.J. Upton in the Braves' outfield, according to reports confirmed by CBS 5 Sports.

The Diamondbacks traded Justin Upton and third-baseman Chris Johnson to the Braves in exchange for five players, CBS 5 Sports' Joe Pequeno confirmed through officials with the Diamondbacks Thursday morning.

Diamondbacks' President Derrick Hall said he couldn't comment on the reported trade.

The preliminary deal involved five Braves' players: outfielder/third-baseman Martin Prado, shortstop prospect Nick Ahmed, who played in the 2012 Arizona Fall League, pitchers Randall Delgado and Zeke Spruill, both right-handers, and third baseman Brandon Drury.

USA Today, MLB.com and CBSSports.com also confirmed the trade.

The deal is pending players passing their physicals, MLB.com reported.

Justin Upton, 25, spent seven seasons with Arizona, hitting .278 with 108 home runs and 363 RBI while playing rightfield for the Diamondbacks. He was a two-time All-Star.

His brother signed a five-year, $75 million deal with Atlanta in the offseason.
