Whitehouse man guilty of murdering ex-girlfriend sentenced to 42 years

A jury has found Larry Joe Smith, the man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend on the porch of his home, guilty of murder with a deadly weapon, and now, he has been sentenced to 42 years in prison.

Smith, 69, was indicted in June for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Sandra Greenhall.

Greenhall was fatally shot on Smith's front porch in Whitehouse back in March.

Authorities say Smith initially said he shot Greenhall because he thought she was an intruder.

The punishment phase of the trial now begins.
