JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Jasper County.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office said the bones, which included a human skull, were found in an area eight miles north of Jasper.
Captain Bob Walker said a man was throwing away some dead chickens out in the woods when he stumbled across a human skull, earlier this week.
The skull and other bones discovered were sent to an anthropologist for examination. Walker stated DNA results should be back by Friday afternoon.
There is no evidence to determine who the individual was or a cause of death. Walker stated foul play can't be determined at this time, but he says, their office does not have any reports for a missing person in Jasper County.
He also explained that the remains have been there a couple of years and they could possibly belong to a white male, between 27-30 years of age.
Sheriff's deputies have searched about a 10 acre area in the woods trying to locate more remains they plan to resume their search Friday morning.
