TRINITY, TX (KTRE) -
Talk show host Steve Harvey has challenged two of the Trinity Police Department officials to a weight loss challenge.
Chief Steven Jones and Officer Donald Givens stars of CMT's reality show "Big Texas Heat" were challenged to lose 60 pounds in 60 days in early December. Since then, the officers have been hitting the gym two hours a day and working with a nutritionist on portion control.
"When we start up, they bring us the food from a company in Houston that's delivering the food to us, and to start off, you look at it, and it's little bitty packages, and you're like, ‘It's no way - I'm going to need more food than that,'" Jones said. "But actually, we stay full all day, and it's nice."
If they both make their goal, Harvey will come down to Trinity to talk to high school students. The officers will film their big reveal on February 8th.
