SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

The April 9th execution date for an East Texas man is being rescheduled.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says they received a notice that Ricky Lynn Lewis' execution will no longer happen in ten weeks. TDCJ officials say they don't have a new date set for the execution.

After two decades of appeals, Lewis was given an execution date earlier this month.

In 1993, a jury convicted Lewis in the murder of a Smith County man and the sexual assault of his fiance.
