PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Police are looking for the gunman who killed one person and wounded two others at a Phoenix office building Wednesday morning.

The Department of Public Safety said they broadcast an "attempt to locate" for 70-year-old William Arthur Harmon III in connection to the shooting, on behalf of the Phoenix Police Department.

Phoenix police say there was an altercation at a business in the 7300 block of North 16th Street about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect fired multiple rounds and wounded three people. Phoenix police said victim 48-year-old Steve Singer died at the hospital from his injuries. Singer is the owner of Fusion Contract Centers. Mark Hummels, 33, is in critical condition at the hospital. A third victim, a 32-year-old woman, is expected to survive.

Valley law firm Osborn Maledon representative Athia Hardt released the following statement about Hummels.

"Our partner, Mark Hummels was representing a client in a mediation today when he was shot.  We understand that other people also were injured. As the news has reported, Mark has been taken to John C. Lincoln hospital.  We don't have any further info at this time. At the appropriate time, additional information will be released by the authorities.

"Our concern right now is for Mark and his family.  We ask the news media to respect their privacy in this difficult time."

Police said one witness followed the suspect out of the parking lot about a block south. The suspect shot at the witness but the witness was not hurt.

Police said they do not believe this was a random attack.

Police are gathering details on the suspect. A SWAT team is surrounding his home in the northeast Valley near 29th Street and Acoma and are interviewing his adult son.

Police believe he rented a 2003 white Kia Optima, with Arizona license plate AVS-2052, before going to the building near 16th and Glendale Avenue for a meeting. They said they believe he had issues with his mortgage.

Anyone who knows Harmon's whereabouts should call 911.
