PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

A judge has sentenced a convicted felon in a 2013 shooting in which a Phoenix police officer was wounded.

Brandon McCabe will spend 62 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing.

McCabe was accused of shooting Officer Peter "Chris" Bennett the night of Jan. 6, 2013.  Bennett survived wounds to his face, right arm and right hip.

Police said Bennett approached McCabe in an area with a high burglary rate. They said McCabe ignored the officer's command and the two exchanged gunfire.

McCabe was arrested after being found hiding in a shed. He had gunshot wounds to both hands.
