LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Emily Watts, who served the community and worked as the spokeswoman for Brookshire Brothers, has died. She was 52.

Watts died in Lufkin Memorial Hospital around 3 p.m. from complications of breast cancer, according to Angelina County Chamber of Commerce President Jerry Huffman.

Watts led the way in Brookshire Brothers' many charitable and community projects.

"She was an awesome individual," Huffman said. "I've never seen the woman not smiling. She always gave 100 percent and came from a family of volunteering and doing."

Huffman said Watts went into the hospital Monday night, when she was suffering from dehydration from chemotherapy. He said she went into cardiac arrest Wednesday morning.

"Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for our friend and co-worker, Emily Watts," the Brookshire Brothers corporate office stated in a media release. "Emily will be truly missed by all."
