LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

First time State Representatives Trent Ashby and Travis Clardy have now been nominated to committees.

Ashby was named to the Appropriations and Natural Resources Committee.

Clardy was named to the Higher Education, Local and Consent Calendars and the Special Purpose Districts committees.

Both were thrilled to represent their areas.

"To have a seat at the table where are state dollars are spent from anything from our state from anything from public education to health and human services. It's going to be very nice for our district to have somebody represented on that committee," said Ashby.

"As a first year member of the State of Representatives, it's a real honor to be a part of these committees and represent SFA and all of the institutions of higher learning through out the state," said Clardy.
