Intruder hospitalized after being severely beaten by homeowner

On Saturday, February 2, 2013, at approximately 1:30 am, Smith County Sheriff's office received a 911 call of an intruder entering into a private  residence at Pine Trail Shores. 

Upon arrival at this location by Sheriff's Deputies, a resident was fighting with the intruder described as a white male, 6 ft 2 in. medium build, about 33 yrs old. 

The suspect was subdued and restrained.  The suspect was transported to ETMC by ambulance. The suspect's injuries from the confrontation with the home owner were so severe that surgery and hospitalization was necessary at ETMC. 

The investigation into the residential burglary is on-going.  The suspect is recovering from his injuries at the hospital.
