ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -
55-year-old Huntington man, Larry Meadors was found dead in his maroon pickup on the side of US Highway 69 South just outside of Lufkin Tuesday morning.
Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches confirmed the fatality.
David Kelley, the owner of David Kelley Contracting in Huntington, said Meadors worked for him. Kelly said he saw his former co-worker's truck veering to the side of the road and scraping a nearby guard railing.
When Kelley stopped to see what had happened, Meadors was not responsive and looked dead. He called 911 and used a hammer to break the pickup's window.
Kelley said he had been in and out of the hospital with pneumonia and had high blood pressure.
DPS says they are treating the case as an accident until they can find out exactly how he died.
