HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -
The man
airlifted to a burn center following a Houston County explosion Tuesday morning
has been moved from the burn unit to a regular room because his condition has
improved.
According
to the Houston County Fire Marshal's Office, the cause of the explosion is
still under investigation at this time. In addition to the Houston County Fire
Marshal's Office, the Texas Railroad Commission, the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality, and Private Safety Investigators are all looking into
the explosion.
The
explosion occurred at 11:10 a.m. at the Navidad Resources Weldon Gas Processing
Plant in the Houston County community of Weldon, which is near Lovelady and
about 19 miles from Crockett. One man was life-flighted to a burn center in
Houston for serious burns.
Fire
crews from the Weldon, Lovelady, Crockett, and Austonio fire departments
battled the blaze sparked by the explosion for about 45 minutes before they got
it under control.
