Annual Nacogdoches Girl Scout Cookie Cram has a new champion

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

It was all about the Girl Scout cookies Monday night in Nacogdoches.

Nacogdoches VIPs: Sheriff Jason Bridges, Nacogdoches County United Way CEO, Gary Lee Ashcraft, Nacogdoches Police PIO, Greg Sowell, 3 Nacogdoches firemen and Jeff Davis from SFA Alumni all....stuffed their faces with their favorite cookies.

The challenge was for the cookie eaters to eat as many cookies as they can in 60 seconds but there's a catch, they can't use their hands. They have a Girl Scout assistant who will feed them their cookies.

Ashcraft came out on top this year, eating 14 shortbread cookies in one minute.

He dethroned last year's champion, Greg Sowell who finished with 12 thin mints.

Ashcraft said he had a strategy going into the competition, "We [Asia, Girl Scout Assistant] would cram 4 cookies in my mouth at one time and whatever went in that was great and whatever came out that was great also
