PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Friday night Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers will be participating in a DUI task force in the West Valley.

Starting at 7 p.m. officers will be flooding the streets with patrols looking for and stopping impaired drivers on the streets and highways.

DPS has specially trained DUI recognition officers that will be patroling the roads assisting the various law enforcement agencies taking part in the task force.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety coordinated and funded the task force.

These types of saturated patrols are common during the holiday season, but are not limited to only that time frame.
