Woman hospitalized after she's found on burning bed

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A woman was hospitalized with burns on more than 20 percent of her body after she was found lying in a burning bed at a Phoenix senior care center Tuesday morning.

Phoenix firefighters said they were checking on a water flow indicator about 11 a.m. at Washington Manner, 1101 E. Monroe St., when they saw water flowing from one of the units.

They broke down the door and heard yelling from the woman, believed to be in her 60s, and whose mattress was on fire, firefighters said.

She was taken to the Maricopa County Medical Center Burn Unit.

Firefighters said no cause had been determined, but the investigation was continuing.
