WASHINGTON, Feb. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Dental Association today announced that Thomas J. Dawson III, J.D., has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a senior congressional lobbyist.
Mr. Dawson joins the ADA after nearly 23 years in health and insurance policy lobbying and legislative work. From 2011 until his joining the ADA he served as executive director and advisor to the National Coalition of Healthcare Providers, an organization he established and which represents more than 350,000 dentists and physicians, focusing on regulatory and legislative matters. From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Dawson was health care counsel for the House of Representative's Small Business Committee.
Mr. Dawson is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and serves on the DC Board of Medicine, which has jurisdiction over physician licensing and the practice of medicine in District. He also serves on the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art SANAA Circle Board.
Mr. Dawson holds a juris doctor degree from the George Washington University School of Law, a Master's of Public Health from the GWU School of Public Health, an MA from the University of Florida and a BA from Morehouse College.
