PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A "person of interest" has been identified in a September sex assault in Mesa, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

MCSO released a composite sketch of a man sought in connection with the Sept. 18, 2012 attack.

An adult female was walking in a wash in the area of 97th Street and Baywood Avenue during the late morning hours when she was attacked, deputies said.

The man deputies wish to speak to is described as between 30 and 40 years old. He is between 5'8" and 5'10" tall with a stocky build. He had dark hair, a tan complexion and a tattoo on his right forearm, according to information from MCSO.

People with any information about the man's identity are asked to call MCSO's Special Victims Unit Detective McGehee or Sgt. Lugo at 602-876-1087 and reference DR# 12-169364.
