SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A woman was found dead in her Scottsdale apartment Wednesday morning in the wake of police barricade the night before, officers said.

A fight apparently broke out between a woman and her mother at about 8 p.m.

As police were en route the mother fled the apartment at the Barolo Place at 10757 N 74th St., according to Scottsdale police spokesman Dave Pubins.

The daughter stayed inside and refused to leave. Officers attempted to negotiate with her to emerge but when that proved unsuccessful, police left the scene.

An order to get a psychiatric evaluation on the suspect was obtained and officers returned Wednesday morning, Pubins said.

At about 12:45 p.m., Scottsdale Police Department SWAT officers entered the apartment and found the woman dead.

Police said they are continuing their investigation.
