Storm aftermath affects Arizona sports events

TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

Skies are clearing but the aftermath of Wednesday's winter storm that passed through Arizona continued to have some effects in the state a day later, particularly in sports.

In Marana near Tucson, play in the Match Play Championship golf tournament resumed after being delayed several hours because snow still coated the course the course Thursday morning.

First-round play was suspended Wednesday when rain became snow as the temperature dropped.

In the Phoenix area, the Arizona Diamondbacks delayed and relocated the baseball team's spring training activities.

A thin layer of icy snow remained on the Diamondbacks' fields in Scottsdale Thursday morning, so the team decided to play at practice game to the Oakland Athletics' facility in Papago Park in Phoenix Thursday afternoon.
