CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Crockett Police officers arrested four Palestine residents ranging in age from 23 to 62 Saturday night for engaging in organized criminal activity after they allegedly walked out of the local Walmart with several shopping carts full of stolen merchandise.
All four suspects were charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, which is a state-jail felony. Arrested were Melissa Sue Trevino, 23, Christopher Lee Elder, 34, Robert Earl Holloway, 51, and Jeanette Lambright, 62.
According to the arrest affidavits, the Crockett Police Department was dispatched to the Crockett Walmart at 8:47 p.m. Saturday in reference to a theft call. The store's manager told the officer that a white man and woman walked out the front door with "shopping carts full of stolen items."
A Walmart employee who witnessed the alleged theft said the two suspects approached at silver 2004 GMC SUV, where another man and woman got out of the vehicle and started loading the stolen property into it, the affidavit stated. The employee was able to get the SUV's license plate number.
Crockett Police officers located the SUV on Highway 287 North in Grapeland a short time later. All four suspects were arrested at the scene and transported to the Houston County Jail.
One of the affidavits stated that Trevino and Elder were allegedly recorded by the Walmart's surveillance cameras. The other two suspects were Holloway and Lambright.
