Donald Barron Jr., pastor of First Baptist Church Rusk
AUSTIN, TX (News Release) -
Donald Wayne (Donnie) Barron Jr.
of Rusk will give the invocation at the opening of the 83rd Texas
Legislature at the Capitol in Austin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. The
pastor of First Baptist Church Rusk was invited to Austin by State Rep. Travis
Clardy of Nacogdoches to serve as Pastor of the Day.
Barron has served as Pastor of
First Baptist Church Rusk for three years. He has pastored in and around East
Texas for the past 18 years. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in
Tyler, Texas and received a Bachelor of Arts in religion and sociology from the
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at Belton. He served in the US Army for 10
years and is a Veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq.
Barron and his wife Kim, of 29
years, have three children, one granddaughter and two more grandchildren on the
way. He is active in his hometown of Rusk through everything from serving on
the Chamber of Commerce to announcing most sporting events for the Rusk High
School Eagles. He enjoys the outdoors through hunting and fishing and is an
Executive Board Member of the Christian Hunters and Anglers Association.
