Angelina County youth showcase agriculture projects at fair all week

Posted: Updated:
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Angelina County Youth Fair is in full swing and students are getting the chance to show off their skills.

Throughout the week, kids will be showing the livestock they raised, baked goods and their forestry skills.

This year the Angelina County Youth Fair added two new attractions: a barbeque cook off and a carnival.

13-year-old Emily LaRoe already won second place for her banana cake during the home economics competition.

LaRoe said, "I won 2nd place and a blue ribbon. I'm really excited."

Angelina County Youth Fair Volunteer and County Agriculture Extension Agent, Cary Sims says, "The Angelina County Youth Fair is an opportunity to showcase Angelina youth who have just done a tremendous job in either home economics projects, shop projects, forestry competition and certainly the livestock show. They've been working for weeks if not months preparing for this show and showing off their skills."
