Bicyclist, 79, struck, killed at Mesa intersection

MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A 79-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed at a Mesa intersection Wednesday, according to a Mesa Police Department report.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, appeared to be heading northbound and failed to yield the right of way when he was hit by a Toyota Tacoma going west on a private street, according to the report.

The bicyclist was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn Hospital, where he died.

The truck's driver was not cited.
