PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Three people have been captured after leading authorities on a high-speed chase down Interstate 17 in a stolen vehicle Wednesday night.

The chase started near I-17 northbound near Peoria at about 4 p.m. The suspects were seen tossing objects out the window of the car during the pursuit, according to Phoenix police.

Stop sticks were deployed by officers in an attempt to stop the car but the driver, who was later identified as Ryan Tsosie, 22, avoided them near the Bumble Bee exit.

A police helicopter was also used to keep a close eye on the suspects.

There were several close calls with Tsosie, who was not afraid to weave in and out of traffic.

After a roughly 45-minute chase, the yellow Honda Civic over-corrected, spun out and fell off a dirt road in the Bumble Bee area. CBS 5 News chopper was overhead as the car went on its side and down the side of a short embankment.

Tsosie along with Shane Johnson, 19 and a 17-year-old female got out and started running down the steep hillside. Phoenix police officers quickly took all three into custody about 4:40 p.m.

DPS assisted in the pursuit.
