PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A disabled woman whose $7,000 customized wheelchair was stolen in Phoenix on Tuesday morning is mobile again thanks to a Good Samaritan who paid it forward.

Darlene Lovitt had finished washing her twin sister's wheelchair and set it out on the carport to dry when a thief stole it while she was inside.

Lovitt has been taking care of her sister since they were 16, when Marlene Lovitt was in a motorcycle crash and suffered a brain injury that left her paralyzed.

Her chair is custom made for her because of her legs.

When CBS 5 viewer Jim Sexton heard about the incident, he said he knew he had to act.

"I felt so sorry for that poor lady," Sexton said. "Anybody that would take her only means of movement. That's terrible."

On Saturday night, Sexton donated the wheelchair his daughter had gotten for him when he was having back problems a few years back.

Because of his generosity, Marlene can again move from room to room in the house and go to the park in the morning with her sister like she used to.

Phoenix police are still looking for the thief.
